Dr. David A. Boothman grew up in Detroit, Michigan, and earned his B.S. at the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor. He did his graduate work in microbiology and immunology at the University of Miami Medical School, where he received his Ph.D. under the mentorship of Dr. Sheldon Greer. His research focused on the biochemistry and pharmacology of anticancer drugs, specifically 5-fluoro-deoxycytidine derivatives. He did postdoctoral research at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute of Harvard Medical School with Dr. Arthur B. Pardee. There, he investigated changes in several aspects of cancer cells before and after cell stress: cell cycle checkpoint regulation, molecular biology, and gene expression. His studies on ?-lapachone as a radiosensitizer and DNA repair inhibitor began at this time. He also discovered and cloned the first proteins and transcripts induced by ionizing radiation (IR).
Dr. Poon is currently the President of Quacell Biotech Ltd. He previously worked for Hisun Biopharm, Merck (SAFC), Roskamp Institute in USA. He completed his Ph.D. in Biological Chemistry at University of Kentucky, and MBA from University of South Florida. He has years of experience in the field of biological therapeutics, analytical research, bioinformatics and proteomics. He has more than 10 years of cell culture experience with focus on biopharmaceutical products.
After completion of his postdoctoral training at University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, Dr. Gautam Sethi joined Department of Pharmacology, Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore in 2008 as an Assistant Professor and was promoted to Associate Professor in 2015. The focus of his research over the past few years has been to elucidate the mechanism (s) of activation of oncogenic transcription factors such as NF-?B/STAT3 by carcinogens and inflammatory agents and the identification of novel inhibitors of these proteins for prevention of and therapy for cancer. The findings of his research work have so far resulted in more than two hundred and fifty scientific publications in high impact factor peer reviewed journals (with h index = 76) and several international awards. He currently serves as an Academic Editor for PLOS, editorial board member of Cancer Letters, Scientific Reports, Pharmacological Research, World Journal of Pharmacology, BMC Cancer, Frontiers in Pharmacology, Frontiers in Oncology, International Journal of Biological Sciences, Journal of Functional Foods, Journal of Natural Products in Cancer Prevention and Therapy, and ad-hoc reviewer for several other prestigious international journals
Dr. Brian Kennedy is internationally recognized for his research in the basic biology of aging and as a visionary committed to translating research discoveries into new ways of delaying, detecting, and preventing human aging and associated diseases. He is the Director of National University Health System (NUHS) Centre for Healthy Ageing. He also serves as a Distinguished Professor in Department of Biochemistry and Physiology at Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University Singapore (NUS).
